Network Refresh Planning Checklist For Multi Site Estates
Refresh programmes fail on supply and sequencing far more often than on design.
Audit Before Designing
Collect deployed part numbers software trains and support status into one list. Most estates contain more variation than the documentation suggests and the design must start from what is actually there.
Fix the Standard Early
Choose one access one distribution and one branch model and hold them for the programme life. Changing the standard mid programme reintroduces exactly the fragmentation the refresh was meant to remove.
Confirm Availability Horizon
Ask whether the chosen models will remain orderable for the full programme duration. A model that goes end of sale in wave two forces a second standard.
Ship Kits Not Parts
Pack per site rather than per part number. An install crew working from one carton per site is materially faster than one reconciling three consignments.
Book Change Windows Against Confirmed Delivery
Book the window after the consignment is confirmed rather than before. A missed window costs more than a week of storage.
Reconcile Serials at Each Wave
Update the asset register wave by wave. Reconciling 140 sites at the end of a programme is a project in itself.
